License management and activation for Energy Logserver platform.

The Licensing module manages product activation, license validation, and feature entitlements for Energy Logserver. This section covers license types, activation procedures, and license management operations.

License Types

Energy Logserver offers flexible licensing options to meet different organizational needs:

  • Community Edition: Free version with core log management capabilities

  • Professional Edition: Advanced features including SIEM, AI/ML analytics, and extended integrations

  • Enterprise Edition: Full-featured platform with unlimited scale, premium support, and advanced security features

License Activation

Initial License Activation

  1. Obtain license key from Energy Logserver sales or customer portal

  2. Navigate to Configuration → License in the web interface

  3. Enter license key and click Activate

  4. System validates license with activation server

  5. Licensed features become immediately available

Offline Activation

For air-gapped environments without internet access:

  1. Generate activation request file in License interface

  2. Transfer file to internet-connected system

  3. Upload to Energy Logserver license portal

  4. Download activation response file

  5. Import response file to complete activation

License Management

Viewing License Status

Check current license status and entitlements:

  • License Type: Edition and tier

  • Expiration Date: License validity period

  • Licensed Features: Enabled modules and capabilities

  • Capacity Limits: Data ingestion, user count, node limits

  • Support Level: Support entitlements and SLA

License Renewal

Before license expiration:

  1. Contact Energy Logserver sales for renewal

  2. Receive new license key

  3. Apply new license (existing configuration preserved)

  4. Verify updated expiration date

License Upgrades

Upgrade to higher edition or increase capacity:

  1. Purchase upgrade license

  2. Apply upgrade key in License interface

  3. Additional features activate automatically

  4. No system restart required

Troubleshooting

License Activation Fails

Problem: License key rejected during activation

Solutions:

  • Verify key is entered correctly (check for typos)

  • Ensure system can reach activation server (check firewall)

  • Confirm license key is valid and not expired

  • Check system clock is synchronized (NTP)

Features Not Available After Activation

Problem: Licensed features not appearing

Solutions:

  • Refresh browser cache and reload interface

  • Verify license status shows correct edition

  • Restart Energy Logserver services if needed

  • Contact support if features remain unavailable

License Expiration Warnings

Problem: System showing license expiration warnings

Solutions:

  • Check license expiration date in License interface

  • Initiate renewal process 30 days before expiration

  • Temporary grace period may be available (contact support)

  • System continues operating with reduced functionality after expiration

Best Practices

  • Monitor Expiration: Set calendar reminders 60 days before license expiration

  • Capacity Planning: Track usage against license limits

  • Upgrade Proactively: Upgrade licenses before hitting capacity limits

  • Document Licenses: Maintain records of license keys and purchase information

  • Test Renewals: Apply renewed licenses in test environment first when possible
